Looking for an MM alien romance? There are plenty of them, and I love this genre. Two men who sometimes have nothing in common, neither their biology nor their culture, still manage to understand each other thanks to… the power of love. Or they don’t, and that is when it gets really funny 😂
Here are the 16 MM alien romance books I recommend, with tentacles, a lizard king, a pink shark-man, alien mermen and a few unexpected pregnancies. Each book has a green tag that tells you who, or what, you are dealing with.

Biologically Incompatible? Tentacle Alien Romance
In these four, the alien’s body is a big part of the story, from tentacles that do what they want to horns, fangs and a very specific hunger for humans. It is also where a lot of the jokes come from.
It’s Not Unusual to Be Loved by an Alien
River Sullivan is a sci-fi nerd who has always believed aliens were out there, and in Las Vegas he finally finds proof. Kai Genaro is an alien living undercover on Earth who does not date humans, and when the alien Alliance recruits River, Kai is the one assigned to keep him out of trouble. Then Kai’s tentacles accidentally start a Mating Courtship Ritual with him.

The Aliens Who Abducted Me Aren’t So Bad
When alien ships appear over the biggest cities on Earth, he rolls his eyes and keeps scrolling. Then he is ordered to report to base, and ends up on a spaceship with millions of soldiers from around the world. The Krezikians are not here to conquer anyone: they want to stop humanity from wrecking the only planet it has. Caught sneaking out to check on a friend, he runs into Aster, who is sweet and whose tentacles have never heard of personal space, and finds himself made Earth’s unwilling spokesperson.
Suck
Portals split the sky open, and the monsters of Erethar who come through have no interest in conquering Earth: to survive, they need something very specific from humans. The government starts recruiting for a ritual that sounds a lot like a cross-dimensional booty call, and Everest Hale signs an exclusivity contract with Rathyn of the Dark Vale. It is supposed to be an arrangement, until Rathyn melts under his hands and Everest starts to suspect the government is not telling the whole story.

More love interests who aren’t human
My monster romance list has the creatures that don’t come from space: soul eaters, a dragon in a snowstorm, and more tentacles.
Lost in Translation: Alien Romance With a Language Barrier
At the start they don’t share a single word, so everything goes through gestures and guesswork, and that is where the funniest misunderstandings come from.
I’m Not Your Pet
Hugo has spent three years as a captive dancer on a pleasure planet, entertaining intergalactic customers, and the jelly donuts were honestly the best part. When a pink shark-man called Roark buys him, Hugo goes along with it, because Roark seems nice, judging by his sharp-toothed smiles and gentle hands. The problem is that they do not speak the same language, and Hugo badly needs a translator to find out whether Roark wants a partner or a pet.

The Aliens’ Mate
Luc Martin was abducted a month ago and has been in a cage on a spaceship ever since, with three women, between two alien prisoners who cannot stop staring at him. When a chance to escape comes, he frees Bolaico and Teranu, and the five of them fight their way to a shuttle and crash on an unknown planet. Luc doesn’t speak a word of either alien’s language, but he still finds a way to thank them, first up a tree, then in a hot spring.
MM Alien Mpreg Romance
Alien biology makes a lot of things possible, including a pregnancy for the man. In these four the baby is part of the story, and in at least one of them nobody saw it coming. If mpreg is new to you, the questions at the end explain it, along with eggpreg.
Hook, Line, and Sinker
Aliens are common in New Martia, but Ty Metzler, who is half-Piscean, still feels like a fish out of water. When his best friend Lawrence’s parents try to cut Lawrence out of the family fortune, Ty’s seahorse biology suddenly becomes the solution: a marriage and a baby would secure Lawrence’s place in the line of succession. That is a lot to ask of a friendship, especially when one of them already wants more.
Earth Fathers Are Weird
Maxwell, a fighter pilot, is pulled out of his wrecked jet by aliens, then left in a spaceport, because Earth is too far from the usual shipping routes for anyone to take him home. He has two options: three hundred years of work to pay for the trip, or four years as the “nanny” of a very rich alien. The translator may have smoothed over a few details of the job description.

After a piloting mistake, Captain Levi and his crew are stranded on a strange planet covered in flowers, on what was supposed to be a peace mission. Where the Current Takes Him
Aliens have taken over Earth, and Beau Montgomery, an omega, is a stain on his politician father’s career. So his father sells him to the highest bidder and ships him off to the Mermade Islands, to Loriun Kolhn, a wealthy Mer alpha who needs a mate. Beau expects one more gilded prison.
Fated Mates, Bonds and Alien Omegas
The alien knows from the first meeting that this human is meant for him. The human, on the other hand, has a lot of objections, especially when it all starts with an abduction.
How to Train Your Human Omega
Clay flies spaceships across the galaxy and keeps his life simple: get paid, get laid. Then a boring job goes wrong, and a huge purple alien storms onto his ship, throws the crew aside and tells him: “You are mine.” Arcay is royalty among the Aldar, where omegas are almost extinct, and he expects his omega to be meek and obedient. Clay fights him at every step, while his scent draws every unmated alpha on the ship.

Cosmic Husband
One second Seth is walking to work, the next he is on a spaceship with his black cat, and a scaled, winged alien called Kal says he is his mate. Seth has until they reach Kal’s planet, six months away, to accept him or go back to Earth. Kal plans to spend every one of those months courting him.
Kade: Accidentally Bonded
Lieutenant Aiden Hill defends the colony planet Rendol 4 for the Alliance Military, against space pirates and a rival species. On a mission gone wrong he finds Kade, raised his whole life to serve one master, who imprints on Aiden on the spot. The Alliance forbids that kind of bond and Aiden would never accept it anyway, so he tries to teach Kade to make his own choices, while Kade only wants to please him, bedroom skills included.

More alphas and omegas, no spaceship needed
My omegaverse guide explains ABO in plain words, then lists the books I recommend, with shifters and fantasy worlds.
Space Opera: Pirates, Gods and Alien Courts
Two longer, more political stories, for when you want a whole galaxy around the couple: a crew stranded near a black hole, and a human interpreter at the court of an empire.
Regi’s Huuman
Regi left the Empire, his family and his gods behind to serve on Coalition ships. When a string of bad luck leaves his ship stranded near a black hole, with dead engines, a pirate ship close by and no way to call for help, he wonders whether misfortune, the first blessing of the gods, has found him. Dante was taken by aliens a long time ago, and the security chief who boards the pirate ship is kind, with an expressive face and velvety skin, not that Dante is noticing.
Taji From Beyond the Rings
The Interplanetary Trade Coalition needs a deal with the Sha Empire, and the last diplomats it sent there ended up in prison. Taji Ameyo, a student linguist, is drafted as interpreter for the new ambassador. He is a small human who has never learned to keep his opinions to himself, and the Sha nobility find that fascinating, to the point of calling him shehzha, the word for the rare partners whose lovers stake their honour on keeping them happy. His mouth soon drags him into imperial politics.
My Top Three MM Alien Romance Books
If you only read three books from this list, here are mine.
Earth Fathers Are Weird · Lyn Gala
A trilogy I loved from start to finish. Maxwell and Rick have to learn everything about each other, and the little family they build is so touching that I already miss it.
Taji From Beyond the Rings · R. Cooper
A political world that pulled me right in, and a slow burn built on the misunderstandings of the language barrier.
You’re Not My King! · Eryn Hawk
It made me laugh, and I loved that Vo’ak has to earn Reuben’s trust, king or not.
MM Alien Romance: Your Questions
What is mpreg, and how is it different from eggpreg?
Mpreg stands for male pregnancy: a man carries a baby. In alien romance, the alien biology is what makes it possible, like the Maeleons in Aliens Abducted My Heart, who can somehow get human men pregnant. Eggpreg is a variant where the man carries eggs instead, often from an alien with tentacles or an ovipositor. Depending on the book, the eggs hatch into babies or they are only part of the smut. The four books in the mpreg section are mpreg, and How to Train Your Human Omega has no pregnancy at all.
What’s the difference between alien romance and monster romance?
Alien romance is science fiction: the love interest comes from another planet, with spaceships, abductions and interstellar empires around him. In monster romance he can be a demon, a creature from the woods or a soul eater, closer to fantasy and horror. The two overlap a lot, and the monsters in Suck arrive through portals from another world. My monster romance list covers the other side.
Are MM alien romance books spicy?
Most of them, and some very much so: Suck, It’s Not Unusual to Be Loved by an Alien, The Aliens’ Mate and Kríe Captivity are at the top of the scale. The chillies on each book tell you where it sits.
Where should I start with MM alien romance?
It’s Not Unusual to Be Loved by an Alien if you want to laugh, and Earth Fathers Are Weird if you want an alien who is really alien. Suck if you want something completely wild.
Before You Go
From Las Vegas to a planet covered in flowers and an Earth run by alien mermen, some of these couples can’t even talk to each other at the start, and a few of them end up with a baby on the way.
