I’m a huge fan of office romance! A workplace romance comes with a problem built in: whatever happens between them, they still have to face each other at work on Monday morning 💼 I love that tension, and even more when one of them is the boss and nothing is supposed to happen at all.
Here are the 20 MM office romance books I recommend, with bosses and their employees, a president and his Secret Service agent, FBI partners and a Victorian ghost hunter with his assistant. Each book has a blue tag that tells you who works with whom.

One of them signs the other’s paycheck or approves his internship, and that should be enough to keep things professional. The six couples here work in finance, insurance, architecture, recruitment and private security.

Historical Workplace Romance: Assistants, Tutors and Bank Clerks
Before open-plan offices, there were employers who hired you to live under their roof, and banks where two clerks could fight over the same promotion. Four historical settings, and ghosts in three of them.
The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal
Robert Caldwell has been Simon Feximal’s companion, assistant and chronicler for twenty years, and his casebooks have made the ghost-hunter famous. In 1914 he finally writes down what he never published: how they met, and the cases they really worked, a story far too private and too intimate for Victorian readers.

The Only Gold

Reid is brash and full of new ideas, and everyone at the bank loves him except Jonah. But the more Jonah learns about him, the harder he is to resist. Then, during the worst blizzard New York has ever seen, a vengeful man comes to rob the bank, and the two of them are trapped inside.

My Top Three MM Office Romance Books
Choosing was really hard: every book on this list is great, and office romance is one of my favourite tropes. But here are my three.
Return on Investment · Aleksandr Voinov
My favourite of the whole list, the one I keep rereading: a Wolf of Wall Street atmosphere, and a lot of tension in the office.
The Tutor · Bonnie Dee
A haunted house, a fake identity and a tutor falling for the master of the house, in a slow burn just the way I like it.
The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal · KJ Charles
Ghost stories and a cold hero are my weakness, and KJ Charles never disappoints me.
MM Workplace Romance: Your Questions
What counts as a workplace romance?
Any romance where the two men work together, or where one works for the other. Office romance usually means coworkers or rivals in the same company, and boss x employee adds the forbidden side, since one of them holds the other’s job in his hands. I also count partners paired up on a case and a bodyguard with the man he protects, because the job is what keeps them together.
Where should I start with MM boss x employee romance?
Return on Investment, my number one, for a London finance boss and his junior analyst. Best Man if you want something lighter, with a fake relationship on top, and Takeover if you want a CEO who cannot forget one night in Curaçao.
Are there historical MM workplace romances?
Yes, a whole section of them: a ghost hunter and his assistant in The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal, two bank clerks in The Only Gold, rivals hired for the same contest in Restless Spirits, and a tutor at a haunted Yorkshire estate in The Tutor.
Are there paranormal office romances?
Hart is an omegaverse boss x PA romance, and Rath and Rune: Unhallowed has two library colleagues facing Lovecraftian horrors. Three of the four historical books on this list also have ghosts in them.
Before You Go
From a trading floor in London to the White House and a haunted castle, none of these men manages to keep work and feelings apart.
