There are far more gay shows on Netflix than the front page ever suggests, and far more MM romance. Thai BL drops there almost monthly, Japanese dramas arrive with no announcement at all, and the Western titles get buried under whatever the algorithm is pushing that week. So here is the whole thing in one place: twenty-five gay series and movies on Netflix right now, sorted so you can actually choose one.
I write about MM romance in French and in English, and I watch a lot of this across Thai, Japanese, European and American productions. Every title below has a real reason to be here. One thing worth saying up front: Netflix catalogues differ by country, so a title I can see may sit behind a different regional library for you. Everything here was checked in September 2026.

Thai BL Series on Netflix
Thailand supplies the bulk of the boys love catalogue on Netflix, and by far the most gay series overall. They arrive fast, they run in full seasons, and they are usually the easiest place to start on a slow Sunday.
Dating Game the Series 2025 · Thailand
A shy video game developer, far more at ease with the worlds he builds than with actual people, lands in a real romance he never saw coming. The man who walks into his life is his opposite in every measurable way, loud where he is quiet and forward where he stalls. The series takes its time letting them work each other out. Twelve episodes of low stakes and almost no manufactured drama, which is why it works as a first watch.
Pit Babe the Series 2025 to 2026 · Thailand
Omegaverse set in competitive motor racing. Babe, an alpha driver at the top of his sport, has his routine upended by Charlie, a fan turned teammate who is a great deal more complicated than he first appears. Dare You to Death 2025 to 2026 · Thailand
A night of truth or dare among friends turns into a nightmare when one of them wakes up beside a body. The police captain assigned to the case has to work with a new inspector who is as attractive as he is irritating, while the captain’s own brother becomes a prime suspect.
The Next Prince 2025 · Thailand
A crown prince with no appetite for ruling is forced into a tournament meant to decide the next king. The bodyguard assigned to him quickly becomes a lot more than close protection.
Love Like a Bike 2026 · Thailand

Japanese Gay Series on Netflix
Japanese gay series move more slowly, with a lot left unsaid and very few grand declarations. Several come from a manga or a light novel, and the episodes tend to be short, which makes them easy to fit into a weeknight.
I Cannot Reach You 2023 · Japan
Two childhood friends who look like opposites on paper have been inseparable for as long as either can remember. When one of them finally admits what he actually feels, the whole balance tips.

The Boyfriend 2024 to 2025 · Japan
Nine gay and bi men live together and run a coffee truck while the production lets them build things at their own pace, with no manufactured twists. Much gentler than the dating shows you are used to.
Baban Baban Ban Vampire 2025 · Japan
A centuries old vampire living in a public bathhouse runs into the young man who once took him in when he was hurt. An odd little fantasy comedy carried by a relationship that keeps drifting towards something else. If the trope is your thing, I have a full list of MM vampire romance books.
Chosen Home / Bokutachinchi 2025 · Japan
A solitary zookeeper and a teacher worn down by a breakup meet by accident. Rather than following the usual romance beats, they decide to invent their own definition of love by buying a house together, as a commitment on their own terms.
Western Gay Series on Netflix
On the Western side, the gay series on Netflix mix teen romance, comedy and the supernatural. Some are romances, some are not, and in all of them the gay characters have the lead rather than the sidekick slot.
Smiley 2022 · Spain
Between hesitation, insecurities and badly missed timing, two men in Barcelona and their circle of friends go looking for the love they all badly need. An ensemble romantic comedy with a good rhythm to it.
Dead Boy Detectives 2024 · United States
Two ghost boys refuse to move on to the afterlife and set up as paranormal detectives instead. Be warned that this is an ensemble fantasy comedy first, carried by a whole cast. Edwin, one of the two detectives, is openly queer, and his growing feelings for Charles run under the cases all season.
Q-Force 2021 · United States
Another one that is not really a romance. It is an animated spy comedy carried by a squad of underestimated queer agents trying to prove their worth after years of being sidelined. Broad, unapologetic and aimed squarely at adults.
Special 2019 to 2021 · United States
Ryan, a young gay man with mild cerebral palsy, still lives under his mother’s wing and lets everyone believe his walk comes from a car accident. He eventually takes back control of his flat, his job and his love life. O’Connell wrote the series from his own memoir and plays himself, which gives it a very frank register about disability. Like Q-Force, it is an autobiographical comedy before it is a romance, and season 2 gives his love life a lot of room.
Heartstopper 2022 to 2024 · United Kingdom
Charlie, quiet and already out, sits next to Nick in class and falls for him without believing it for a second. Nick, as it turns out, has questions of his own. The series moves gently, season after season, across the couple and the whole group around them, and it handles heavy subjects with a great deal of care. It is probably the easiest way in if you have never watched an MM series before.
Young Royals 2021 to 2024 · Sweden
Wilhelm, prince of Sweden, is sent to an elite boarding school after a scandal. There he meets Simon, a scholarship student with no interest in playing along, and their story runs straight into everything the crown demands. Far more tense than Heartstopper, with a real class divide on top of the closet.
Gay Movies on Netflix
Series dominate the genre, but the gay movies on Netflix are more than enough to fill an evening, and a couple of them are among the best things in this guide.
10DANCE 2025 · Japan
Two competitive dancers cordially detest each other: one rules the standard category, the other dominates Latin. To master all ten dances, each has to learn the other’s discipline, and training in a closed pair takes the barriers down one at a time.
Here the Whole Time 2026 · Brazil
Felipe planned a quiet July away from school and away from his classmates’ cruel nicknames about his weight. Then his mother decides to host Caio, the boy across the street and a former friend who has grown genuinely annoying, for fifteen days. The arrangement wakes every insecurity Felipe has. Over the days his resentment turns into friendship and then into feelings, and both of them will have to deal with their own problems for it to hold.
Alex Strangelove 2018 · United States
Alex has a very specific plan involving his girlfriend, right up until he meets Elliot and everything he thought he knew about himself comes apart. A light, sincere teen movie about working out who you are.
The Boys in the Band 2020 · United States
New York, 1968. A birthday party among gay friends, one surprise guest and a very well lubricated party game. Up come the grudges, and everything left unsaid in a group that has known each other far too long to keep lying.
Marry My Dead Body 2023 · Taiwan
A fairly macho cop accidentally picks up a red envelope and finds himself married, by local funeral tradition, to the ghost of a young gay man. The two of them have a case to close, and one of them starts getting far more attached than he planned.
Your Name Engraved Herein 2020 · Taiwan
Taiwan, the late 1980s, as martial law is lifted. In a boys’ boarding school two students fall in love while the society around them leaves no room at all for that story to exist in the open.
Single All the Way 2021 · United States
To escape his family’s commentary on being single, Peter talks his best friend Nick into playing the boyfriend over the holidays. A Christmas romcom, feel good and undemanding.
Worth Watching Beyond Netflix
MM on screen does not stop at one catalogue, and a few of the best titles of the last two years are not on Netflix at all.
